“The Whole Gritty City,” a film by Richard Barber and Andre Lambertson. The film explores the brass band culture and music within the New Orleans school system. “In New Orleans, the members of three school marching bands illustrate the power of music as they prepare for the Mardi Gras parades.” The film highlights three band directors that help to inspire New Orleans youth through mentorship, music, and motivation. Special guests from the film screening will be present and there will be a discussion following the screening.
