Transatlantic Traces of Africa in New Orleans Jazz Funerals provides an overview of cultural practices and historical phenomena that impacted the germination of the seemingly unique tradition of Jazz Funerals in New Orleans.
Following the trajectory of socio-political fallout associated with the ethics of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, like the proverbial symbol of Sankofa, we travel back to the continent of Africa to remember who we are as descendants of Africans living in, or as definitive inhabitants of, the city of New Orleans.
Presented by Monique Moss, this presentation will also be streamed live on the New Orleans Jazz Museum Facebook Page.
Free and open to the public, presented by New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park and Monique Moss.
