About New Orleans & le Sud de la Louisiane:

It’s above all a book of current images, which show the surprising landscapes and reveal the great diversity of origins and cultures of the inhabitants of Louisiana. It bears witness to their determination faced with natural elements and their strength to always rebuild. It shares their sense of hospitality and celebration and explains their philosophy of « letting the good times roll.  »

About The Author, Gabriel Vitaux :

Born in Paris, he grew up in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the golden era where this neighborhood attracted Jazz musicians from across the Atlantic as well as all over Europe.  He knew many of them and organized numerous concerts and festivals enabling him to get to know this milieu well. He has travelled to Louisiana frequently and completed photo reportages on Southern Louisiana, New Orleans,  (where he collaborated with the Jazz Museum,) on the bayous, and on Cajun Country, the land of francophone and afro- Caribbean inspired music.
