Stanton Moore "Spirit of New Orleans" Drum Camp Final Performance

  • New Orleans Jazz Museum 400 Esplanade Ave. New Orleans United States (map)

Join us for the Stanton Moore “Spirit of New Orleans” Drum Camp Final Performance on Sunday, December 11th at 4 PM CST in the third-floor Performance Center at the New Orleans Jazz Museum.

About:

Stanton Moore's 3-day "Spirit of New Orleans" drum camp invites students of all ages and playing abilities to enjoy a hands-on drumming experience where they will learn from Stanton and his special teaching guests. This year, Herlin Riley will be presenting the Sunday master class. Moore's mentor and New Orleans legend, Johnny Vidacovich along with other special guest instructors Shannon Powell and John Wooton will all be on hand for private lessons. Students work alongside SONO teachers on their own individual practice drum sets to amass a total of 24 hours of real playing time over the course of this incredible camp. SONO is a fun, low-pressure environment where students can learn from some of the world's best players and educators.

Each attendee will have the option to rent a practice kit or bring their own practice pad or practice pad kit. There will be four one-and-a-half-hour sessions each day. Some of the topics covered will be several styles and beats that you'll need to know when you are playing with people in the real world. Some of you may have encountered some of these grooves and may even feel comfortable with them already. If so, you can "check that" off your personal checklist. Embellishments and nuances will also be demonstrated so that even the more advanced players can work on enhancing what they are already able to play. There will be PDFs sent in advance of the material that will be covered.
