Join us for a unique experience with eminent French jazz drummer and composer Anne Paceo next Tuesday, April 9 at 2pm at the New Orleans Jazz Museum.

Within the framework of her 2 month artist residency with Villa Albertine, a program of the Cultural services of the French Embassy in the United States, Anne Paceo is in New Orleans to research the spiritual traditions of New Orleans.

Her April 9 concert is a “carte blanche” during which she will showcase her varied repertory and premiere titles from her forthcoming album. In the spirit of international cultural cooperation, this set will feature headliner guest musicians based in New Orleans: Victor Campbell (Piano/keys), Michael Joseph Christie (Trumpet), Orlando Gilbert (Saxophone), Sari Jordan (Vocals) and Lex Warshawski (Bass).

This program takes place inside our third floor Performance Center, listening room. Admission is free and open to the public, seating is limited and offered first come, first serve.

Anne Paceo

Anne Paceo is a fertile leader and composer who has created a singular style, identifiable from the first few notes. Her nomination to the order of « Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres » in 2021, her 3 Victoires de la musique (Grammys’ equivalent) and her prolix discography are proof of this.

With nine albums to her credit, Anne Paceo plays with codes and styles, making it a point of honor to break down borders and seek out very particular alchemies between the musicians who make up her groups.

Anne spent the first three years of her life in Daloa, Ivory Coast, lulled by the sound of percussionists rehearsing next to the family home. At the age of 10, she discovered the drums which became her refuge.

First spotted as a side woman, she has been playing and recording since she was 19 years old with some of the greatest names of the French and international music scene: Archie Shepp, Michael League, Rhoda Scott, Rick Margitza, Eric Bibb, Marcel Azzola, Henri Texier, Andy Sheppard, Alain Jean-Marie, Leyla McCalla, Philippe Catherine, and China Moses… just to name a few.
