Traditional jazz musicians from the city of Córdoba, Argentina come together to form a great band that fuses the Small Jazz Band and Alapar, along with the local New Orleans guitarist and banjoist Hunter Burgamy.
The Small Jazz Band is a traditional jazz group formed in 1981 in the city of Córdoba, Argentina and try to recreate the style and repertoire of the first hot jazz groups of the 1920's, such as Joe "King" Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Dodds, etc. Francisco F. Castillo (s), (cornet and clarinet) and Luis Alasino, (trombone and alto sax), two of its original members, along with Sebastián Salomón (more recently incorporated singer), will be representing the band of more than 43 years of trajectory, with countless participations in jazz festivals and two tours around Europe on this fifth trip to the United States.
For its part, Alapar Jazz is a band formed in 2016 also in the city of Córdoba, and performs songs from the 20's and 30's with a visceral and energetic imprint through its singer Mariana Piatti, influenced by the roots of blues, jazz and tango; the powerful slap-played double bass of Guillermo Delfino and the rhythmic archtop guitar of Primo Fernández. The band will be visiting the United States for the first time before their fourth European tour.
This program takes place inside our third-floor Performance Center, listening room. Admission is free and open to the public, seating is limited and offered first come, first serve.
