The panel discussion will cover a brief history of citizen diplomacy in New Orleans, and how local universities contribute to enhancing New Orleans’ relations with the rest of the world through university education.
 
The panel will discuss how New Orleans was once among the first cities designated by the US State Department in 1950 to host visitors under the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), and present efforts of the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council to continue introducing future world leaders to our city and state.   
 
The panelists will also cover individual programs that local universities have created to make New Orleans a center for international learning.
