New Orleans Jazz Museum Announces THIRD ANNUAL Improvisations Gala on December 5, 2020

NEW ORLEANS (November 19, 2020) — The New Orleans Jazz Museum hosts the third annual Improvisations Gala on Saturday, December 5 at 7pm. This courtyard event will feature an exciting lineup of talent performing live from the Museum, with the option to view from home on Facebook and will be a culminating celebration of jazz music in New Orleans during the holiday season.

Despite being greatly affected by the COVID-19 crisis, the Museum has continued to employ local musicians by producing free virtual content every week. Funds raised from this event will directly benefit the Museum, musicians, students, and educators—working together to support the New Orleans cultural community through the pandemic. The Improvisations Gala will stream virtually on www.facebook.com/nolajazzmuseum/live. Limited in-person tickets will be available for purchase on the Jazz Museum’s website.

“We are so excited to host the Improvisations Gala this year, supporting our local music community and celebrating the vibrant culture of New Orleans,” said New Orleans Jazz Museum Director Greg Lambousy.

The Improvisations Gala will take place from 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm on the grounds of the Jazz Museum. The Gala will feature entertainment by Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Bonerama, and Big Freedia.

All proceeds from the Improvisations Gala will support the New Orleans Jazz Museum’s exhibits, music programs, including the live from the balcony series, and the Jazz Museum Education Center, allowing the Jazz Museum to globally promote jazz as one of the most innovative, historically pivotal musical art forms through highly-interactive exhibits, as well as support ongoing musical and educational programming.

Limited in-person tickets to the Improvisations Gala are now on sale, available online only. General Admission tickets are $75. Limited Patron Tables are available for $750, and include a culinary box, specialty cocktails, limited edition poster, and New Orleans Jazz Museum reusable face mask. Individuals can also stream the gala online on the Jazz Museum’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nolajazzmuseum/live.
