  • The Ella Project Crescendo sessions are an eight week music business intensive presented by The Ella Project, the New Orleans Jazz Museum, and the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston.

New this year! The Ella Project has partnered with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston and will be streaming sessions to musicians in Boston. A great opportunity to share stories and broaden your network with other musicians.

For New Orleans artists, all sessions are presented live at the New Orleans Jazz Museum and run consecutive Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. Artists pick and choose the sessions they wish to attend. There is no fee to participate, but we do hope you will become an artist member of The Ella Project.

  • Our Mission:

We believe in the importance of the culture of New Orleans and Louisiana and we empower the creators of their culture in a way that is just, equitable, and serves the artists, patrons and our diverse community.

    Our History:

The Ella Project was launched in 2004 as a partnership of the Arts Council of New Orleans, Tipitina’s Foundation, and Tulane Law School to provide direct pro bono legal services to moderate income Louisiana artists, musicians and grass roots non profits. In 2016, with over 3000 clients served, The Ella Project became an independent 501c3 nonprofit, with an expanded dedication to provide pro bono legal assistance, arts business services, and advocacy to our cultural community.

    What We Do:

Pro bono legal services to low to moderate income artists and musicians. Supervised by Project Co-Founder Ashlye Keaton and her team of Tulane Law students, The Ella Project provides direct one on one assistance in matters of copyright, trademark, contract creation and review, licensing, business formation, nonprofit formation and bylaw creation/revision, and other matters germane to the arts.

Pro bono legal assistance to low to moderate income inventors through our Louisiana Invents Program. Individuals seeking assistance with applying for patent protection can apply to this program to be matched with a registered patent attorney.

Provides the tools for creators to compete in the modern economy by offering workshops, forums, and multi session entrepreneurial training.

Advocates for The Cultural Community by seeking creative proactive solutions to issues that affect Louisiana artists and our cultural landscape.
