Led by Director of Jazz Studies Christopher M. De León, the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts Jazz Program is a nationally recognized jazz education program located in downtown West Palm Beach, FL. The program is made up of three Curricular Jazz Ensembles that meet as regularly scheduled classes throughout the school day and two Extra-Curricular Jazz Combos. In the past three years, our program has been recognized nationally - 2021 & 2023 Downbeat Magazine Student Music Award Winners in the Small Ensemble and Large Ensemble categories; 2022 National Jazz Festival Champions; 2021 Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival National Finalist; 2021 Charles Mingus Jazz Festival National Finalists. Additionally, our students have consistently been selected as members of the Florida All-State Jazz Band, YoungArts Winners, National Honors Jazz Ensembles, and various Jazz Summer Institutes/Camps. They were selected to perform at the 2024 Jazz Education Networks National Conference as a Program of Excellence in New Orleans, LA.
