Gladney
A sixth-generation native of the Lower 9th Ward, Gladney has performed and traveled professionally since the age of 12. A wealth of experience, an infectious spirit, and his iconic “Gladney Bow” hairstyle make Gladney a must-see performer. Gladney is a graduate of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and the New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music. While at NOCCA, Gladney was chosen to be a member of the then Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz (now Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz) All-Star group, which traveled to high schools around the country to educate with jazz “informances” alongside jazz luminaries Lisa Henry and Antonio Hart. During this time, Gladney also had the distinct honor and privilege of performing at the White House during the Obama administration. Throughout his 18-year career, Gladney has been featured in numerous performances, including music videos and live TV appearances such as the Kelly & Ryan Show, Live with Seth Myers, and BBC's Graham Norton Show. He has performed internationally with a range of artists including Jonathan Batiste, Ellis Marsalis, George Duke, Branford Marsalis, Solange, and Topsy Chapman. Gladney additionally appears on Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah's 2018 GRAMMY-nominated album, “The Emancipation Procrastination” on his own feature track, "Cages.” Gladney currently leads a self-titled band with the 2021 release of "Selenite" marking the band's recording debut. He is additionally a member of the Recording Academy and serves as a woodwind instructor at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). A founding member of The Rumble, a Mardi Gras Indian funk band, Gladney now plays regularly with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and travels globally with the Jake Shears Band.
