NRQ. “Nola Resistance Quintet”

NRQ (NOLA Resistance Quintet), a new jazz band composed of a quintet of veterans who are deeply knowledgeable about the city's musical history. According to their producers Brian D’Arcy and Matt Dillon, this crew combines "an ear to the past with eyes to the future." New Orleans, of course, is world-famous for its jazz. Whether you're strolling through the streets or hanging out at a nightclub, you'll be hearing artists who long ago absorbed the work of such giants as Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Sydney Bechet. NRQ is devoted to reinventing and reimagining those pioneers. The rhythm section comprises Darrell Lavigne, Herman Lebeaux and Chris Severin, fronted by horn players Roderick Paulin and Andrew Baham. All five members are journeymen, having performed with marquee talent such as Dianne Reeves, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint, Fats Domino, Bonnie Raitt, The Grateful Dead, Maceo Parker, The Brand New Heavies, Wynton and Branford Marsalis, and the BB King Blues Band. NRQ's debut recording is set for release in the fall of this year, when they'll also begin touring festivals and cities around the world.
