More about the Barbarin Family of Jazz:
The Barbarin Family of Jazz Foundation’s goal is to inspire the youth through participation in job skills development, music education classes, and preserving and advancing our culture through community service and engagement.
There are several ways to preserve the culture of jazz through Louis Barbarin's legacy:
1. Recording and archiving his music: By preserving recordings of his performances, future generations can listen to and study his music.
2. Holding concerts and events in his honor: Hosting concerts or events that feature his music and the music of other jazz musicians can help to keep the tradition alive.
3. Educating future musicians: Teaching young musicians about Barbarin's contributions to jazz can help to ensure that his legacy lives on through new generations of players.
4. Encourage the preservation of jazz venues: Having jazz venues that can host jazz musicians and bands, like Preservation Hall in New Orleans, is a great way to keep the tradition alive.
5. Documenting his life: Documentaries and books about Barbarin's life and career can help to educate people about his contributions to jazz and the cultural significance of jazz music.
6. Encourage jazz studies: Encouraging universities and schools to offer jazz studies programs can help to ensure that jazz musicians of the future are well-versed in the tradition and can carry on the legacy of musicians like Louis Barbarin.
