Join us at the New Orleans Jazz Museum as we celebrate the presentation of Cutting Edge’s Lifetime Achievement Award to George Porter Jr

George Porter Jr. is a legendary New Orleans bassist, best known as a founding member of the pioneering funk band The Meters. A cornerstone of the city’s musical identity, Porter has laid down grooves for decades—both with The Meters and as a sought-after session musician for artists like Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Paul McCartney, and the Grateful Dead. He currently leads his own group, George Porter Jr. & the Runnin’ Pardners, and remains an active force in funk, bringing his signature style to stages around the world.
