Women's History Month at the New Orleans Jazz Museum
[NEW ORLEANS, LA – MARCH 31, 2021] – As the New Orleans Jazz Museum wraps up another month of free virtual programs, we would like to reflect on a joyful celebration of Women’s History Month. This March, the Jazz Museum hosted a series of fantastic performances to recognize the great cultural impact of women in jazz music.
“This month was an opportunity for the Jazz Museum to highlight the manifold talents of the incredible women who continue to enrich the musical legacy of New Orleans,” said Director Greg Lambousy. “We are grateful to our program partners who helped make these performances possible.”
Viewers enjoyed a month-long selection of Quarantunes and Piano Hour performances dedicated to and hosted by female musicians, featuring talent such as Gabrielle Cavassa, Christine Fawson, and Keiko Komaki, among others. The Jazz Museum additionally sponsored live performances by Helen Gillet and Sarah Quintana at 24th annual French Film Festival, which was held between March 23rd and 31st at The Broadside theater. The month ended on a cheerful note with a special Jazz Foundation of America show to celebrate the birthday of Charmaine Neville on Wednesday, March 31.
All past and upcoming virtual programs are free and open to the public on facebook.com/nolajazzmuseum. For more information about the Museum and for a full calendar of events, visit www.nolajazzmuseum.org, or follow on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @NOLAJazzMuseum.
