The New Orleans Jazz Museum presents The Ella Project Crescendo Session: Music Contracts, Band Agreements, and Music Management on Tuesday, October 24th at 5:30 PM CDT in the third-floor Performance Center at the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
Crescendo returns this Tuesday with another session designed for the working independent musician presented by Lou Hill and Bri Whetsone. This week’s session will cover:
Contracts: band agreement, session musicians work for hire, venue agreements
Pre-Release paperwork
Contracts: co-writer agreements and/or split sheets
Common band/artist business models
Management: when’s the “right time” to get a manager
Designed and taught by musician and entrepreneur Lou Hill and attorney Bri Whetstone, Crescendo is a series of seven free workshops targeting independent musicians held on successive Tuesday’s starting September 26th. Sessions cover topics including copyright, licensing your music, collecting royalties, touring, festival gigs, album releases, and new technologies changing the music economy. There is no fee to attend Crescendo sessions, and though each session builds upon the last and artists are encouraged to sign up for the entire series, artists may pick and choose which sessions they would like to attend.
