Professor Longhair Exhibit Closing
On Thursday, December 17, at 5:30, we will celebrate the closing of Me Got Fiyo: The Professor Longhair Centennial. The Jazz Museum debuted Me Got Fiyo in August of 2019, and it has been a highlight of our exhibit offerings since. Guests will have the opportunity to view the exhibit for the last time and enjoy an outdoor concert by Tom McDermott on December 17. The Jazz Museum’s exhibits are open to the public Tuesday through Sunday.

Virtual Event: Seven Days of Satch presented by Chevron
🎺 Join us for the Seven Days of Satch presented by Chevron! 🎺
Seven Days of Satch is a multi-platform, virtual celebration that spans an entire week, starting on Monday, July 27 through Sunday, August 2. We've got thematic programming on WWOZ, Louis Armstrong-inspired cooking demos on WWL-TV, and a full weekend of original performances and Armstrong scholars like Ricky Riccardi broadcast here on Facebook Live.
🎶 Our lineup includes James Andrews, John Boutté, Wendell Brunious, Topsy Chapman and Solid Harmony, Meschiya Lake and the Little Big Horns, Herlin Riley, Treme Brass Band, & Tuba Skinny. Musical performances will be broadcast on Facebook live Saturday, August 1 - Sunday, August 2. 🎶

Join us on Thursday, April 30, 2020 on the New Orleans Jazz Museum Facebook page for International Jazz Day 2020, an online celebration of jazz, in place of our usual festivities! We’ll be streaming a mix of newly released music videos, rare archival content, and live performances.

POSTPONED FOC Film Screening: Buckjumping

Buckjumping takes the pulse of present day New Orleans by turning to its dancers, the men and women who embody the rhythm of the city and prove it on the streets every chance they get.
This 70 minute documentary film follows six different New Orleans communities as they exalt in their distinct form of dance. Nine Times Social Aid & Pleasure Club guide us through preparations for their annual second line. Golden Sioux Gang guides us through their Mardi Gras Indian practice at Handa Wanda. Mourners grieve a family member at a funeral, followed by celebrations for the deceased in the street. Edna Karr High School’s dance troupe hits St Charles Avenue for Muses Parade. Hasizzle The Voice emcees a bounce night. Hustler introduces us to the world of drag in backstreet clubs. Prominent local culture bearers and musicians introduce each section, including DJ Jubilee, Ausettua AmorAmenkum, Mia X, Mannie Fresh, and Nicholas Payton.
