International Jazz Day 2021 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum
[NEW ORLEANS - APRIL 30, 2021 ] The New Orleans Jazz Museum invites you to celebrate International Jazz Day with us on Friday, April 30! The Museum will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of this UNESCO-designated celebration with a day-long virtual event on facebook.com/nolajazzmuseum. Programming will feature local performers, including school bands, alongside international performers from Argentina, Japan, Taiwan, France, and other countries. Through these programs, the Jazz Museum will explore the global impact of New Orleans Jazz.
We welcome you to help us celebrate the unifying power of jazz music by enjoying our International Jazz Day streaming offerings. Highlights include the following:
Roots of Music — 10:30 a.m. CDT
Loyola Jazz Ensemble & Jazz Vocal Ensemble — 10:35 a.m. CDT
University of New Orleans Jazz Ensemble — 11:00 a.m. CDT
Samy Thiébault — 1:00 p.m. CDT
Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano — 4:00 p.m. CDT
Vincent Hsu & Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band — 8:00 p.m. CDT
Yoshio, Keiko Toyama & The Saints — 9:00 p.m. CDT
Don’t miss: In addition to these virtual performances, Amina Scott Quartet will perform from the Jazz Museum’s balcony on Friday, April 30, at 5:00 p.m. We welcome a limited outdoor audience to celebrate International Jazz Day in person for this free concert. Attendance is first-come, first-served. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. We will also stream this program on Facebook for audiences at home.

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY International Jazz Day is the world’s largest celebration of jazz as a force for peace, intercultural dialogue and international cooperation. It is co-led by legendary jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, whom the Museum appointed as an Honorary Improvisations Gala Co-Chair in 2019.
